Not too long before, the senior actor Lee Sun Kyun committed suicide after facing an accusation of taking drugs.
Many prominent directors, singers, producers, and other industry figures held a press conference and asked for a deep investigation into Lee Sun Kyun’s speculated suicide case. The actor was found dead in his car on December 27th, 2023. Following his departure from the house, Sun Kyun’s wife discovered what looked to be a suicide note.

Since October 2023, he has been under police investigation regarding alleged drug use. The Parasite fame actor constantly faced public criticism and got called for questioning in front of the media.
In the conference, they also called out many media platforms invading Sun Kyun’s privacy using unclear details of this case and thoroughly looked into any issues regarding the security of the data throughout the police inquiry and concerning the possible disclosure of probe information to the media.
Furthermore, Joon Ho and other artists have advocated for stricter laws governing the disclosure of celebrity controversies and the protection of their security and personal information.
