This award season continued, and the Critics Choice Awards were held last night. It recognizes and celebrates the best in television and movies in 2023.
Emma Stone won the title of Best Actress for Poor Things, surpassing Margot Robbie for Barbie, Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon, Sandra Hüller for Anatomy of a Fall, Greta Lee for Past Lives, and Carey Mulligan for Maestro.

The star ingénue played the role of 2023 Poor Things, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, an adaptation of Poor Things, a 1992 novel written by Alasdair Gray. The film has also won the 81st Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy and Best Actress—Motion Picture—Musical or Comedy.
Oppenheimer won eight awards, followed by Barbie with six wins at the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards. The Bear and Beef equally took away four victories and Succession with three in the television categories.
Chelsea Handler hosted the ceremony, organized at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, United States. The Career Achievement Award was presented to Harrison Ford, and the SeeHer Award was given to America Ferrera.
