The latest anime about cars on this list is this season’s Overtake! The anime follows a dispassionate freelance photographer, Kouya Madoka, who is in a slump for a while. But when he’s on an assignment at the Fuji International Speedway, he sees the underdog teenage Formula 4 racer Haruhi Asahina and finds interest in his craft once again.

Moved by Asahina’s dedication, Madoka decides to help him win the race. They form a small team, Komaki Motors, to help the boy in his races. Overtake! has only had 4 episodes until now and the story already looks quite promising.

But even after Shiro is healed, the racing regulations prevent him from being a racecar driver anymore and demote him to the position of a mechanic. However, Shiro finds the opportunity to reclaim his pride and honor again as a race is held for the demoted drivers on a faraway planet.

This anime about cars mixes racing and mecha into an interesting concoction. The story is set in the year 2048 when the most exciting form of racing is the Immortal Grand Prix, abbreviated as IGPX. In this race, huge mechanical humanoids race in a fast and high-intensity chase covering the entirety of a city.

The race consists of two teams of three IG units, driven by different drivers who race each other at the speed of 400 km/h. The entire length of the course is 60 km and the IG units make three laps of it. This racing is all about speed, precision, and teamwork.
