Produced by Eric Newman and Sofía Vergara, the story is based on and inspired by a drug lord named Griselda Blanco, based in Columbia. The series showed her ingenious and dynamic approach to her business and forged a cartel among the richest in recorded history.
From the 1970s to the early 2000s, Griselda ruled the era with her drug empire after flying from Medellín to Miami. Blanco, because of her cocaine-based drug trade, came to be known as the Black Widow or Cocaine Godmother.
The six episodes titled Lady Comes to Town, Rich White People, Mutiny, Middle Management, Paradise Lost, and Adios, Miami, will be released on January 25th, 2024. The episodes are available in several languages on Netflix. The miniseries stars Sofía Vergara as Griselda Blanco, Alberto Guerra as Darío Sepúlveda, and many more.
