Novel adapted Limited TV series, Shōgun, sets to premiere on Disney+

Nowadays, we are getting many adapted movies and series based on novels, webtoons, manga, etc. Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks created a television limited series titled Shōgun. It is an adaptation of a novel under the same name, written by James Clavell in 1975.

The historical drama series will start premiering on Disney+, Hulu, and FX, but only for United States viewers. The audience from Latin America can watch on Disney+ and Star+, and other international fans can stream episodes via Star+ on Disney+.

There are said to be ten episodes in total every Friday. The series’ first episode will be released on February 27th, 2024, and the last episode will come out on April 23rd, 2024. A television miniseries was made in 1980, also adapted from the same novel.

In that year, a mysterious European ship gets stranded in a neighboring fishing town found. Lord Yoshii Toranaga, at that time, must battle to survive as his adversaries on the Council of Regents band together to oppose and defeat him. The ship could be a windfall for him, which could swing the balance of power and destroy his enemies.

Starring Anna Sawai as Lady Mariko, Hiroyuki Sanada as Yoshii Toranaga, Cosmo Jarvis as John Blackthorne, Tadanobu Asano as Kashigi Yabushige, and Yûki Kedôin as Takemaru, Shōgun tells a story of Japan from the 1600s.
