One Piece has one of the most intriguing plotlines ever. With that comes a long list of powerful characters with off-the-chart power levels.
King is the second on command of the Beast Pirates.
Katakuri is the strongest of the three sweet commanders in Big Mom’s fleet.
Marco is presently the most vital member of the Whitebeard Pirates after the death of Whitebeard.
But who is the strongest among these three?
Marco is the strongest among all three. Katakuri and King are no doubt strong in their own right, but when Marco decides to level up his game, all the others are left biting the dust.
Marco is almost impossible to defeat in his Phoenix form unless the opponent has Armament Haki with an extremely high level like Big Mom, Shanks or Monkey D. Garp.
Katakuri comes second in this battle. He has a more extraordinary battle experience and a unique way of combat. His Observation Haki is something else altogether at a different level.
It is even stronger than Big Mom’s Observation Haki, as was seen in the battle against Luffy. Katakuri’s devil fruit also allows him to turn his body to mochi, which minimizes the damage to his body like Luffy and have all three Haki.
If you think King is a slouch just because he might not win this fight, reconsider that again. King’s power levels are almost equal, if not greater than an admiral in the Marines.
Also, his devil fruit grants him the ability to fly, giving him certain flexibility in a battle against Katakuri.
In this post, therefore, we will discuss the powers and abilities of King, Marco, and Katakuri in detail. We will also analyze the strongest among them based on their combat abilities.
And finally, we will draw a conclusion as to who would win if these three ever came across each other in battle.

King vs Marco vs Katakuri | Who is the strongest?
Marco > Katakuri > King
Marco is the strongest among King and Katakuri. He has the phoenix’s blue flames that prevent most damage and heals him instantly unless hit by an extremely powerful Armament Haki such as Garp’s.
Katakuri takes second place due to his high experience, all three Haki, and ability to turn his body into mochi at will.
King takes the final position and can also try and defeat Katakuri since he has the added advantage of ariel offense due to his ability to fly in his devil fruit form.
How strong is King?
King = Admirals
King is one of the strongest characters and the second in command of Kaido. His power levels are equal to an admiral in the marine.
He is of Lunarian origin and prefers to cover his entire body to hide that. He ate the mythical zoan devil fruit Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon, which allows him to turn himself into a Pteranodon.
King has a variety of abilities that he can use in battles. They include:
- 1) Swordsmanship-
King is one of the best swordsmen in the Beast Pirates. Only Zoro can be compared to his power levels.
Except for Dracule Mihawk and probably Shanks, nobody else can defeat him in sword combat. He carries a large Katana that he can infuse with Armament Haki.
- 2) Enhanced Durability-
Due to his Lunarian origin, King has extreme durability allowing him to leave the battle unscathed.
He has the highest durability in the Beast Pirates after Kaido and was also able to overcome Zoro using sheer brute strength.
- 3) Devil Fruit-
King has eaten the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon, which allows him to transform into a full Pteranodon.
He can also fly, both in his human and devil fruit form, which makes him all the more dangerous in ariel combat.
- 4) Fire Manipulation-
As is characteristic of a Lunarian, King can manipulate fire. His attacks, such as Andon and Karyudon, can land devastating blows on the opponents.
Additionally, he can also use the Extra Large Imperial Flaming Wings, which is his signature move and can incinerate his opponents.
- 1) No Conqueror’s Haki-
King does not have Conqueror’s Haki. It would not have meant much in a typical battle.
However, since this battle is against two of the strongest characters, not having Conquerer’s Haki is a severe limitation, especially since his opponents can use it.
- 2) Weak Observation Haki-
His Observation Haki is not at the same level as Katakuri’s. In fact, Katakuri has the strongest Observation Haki in the entire series, which means King’s moves can easily be predicted since he cannot counter them.
- 3) Lack of defense-
King’s weakness in his defensive abilities is revealed when he speeds up in his offensive powers.
While in his Lunarian flame form, he is nigh-invincible; the moment his form drops, he is vulnerable to external attacks.
How strong is Katakuri?
Katakuri >= Admirals
Katakuri is the strongest of the three sweet commanders in Big Mom’s fleet. His power level is considered to be a bit higher than that of an admiral in the marines.
He served as the minister of Flour and is the most trusted second in command of Big Mom. He was referred to as a “monster” ever since his childhood due to his immense physical strength.
Being one of the strongest three sweet commanders is no mean feat. He has the following powers:
- 1) Physical prowess-
Katakuri is the strongest based on raw physical strength among the three sweet commanders.
His extreme durability has been ascertained in the manner how he was able to take on several strong strikes from Luffy’s gear fourth and yet recover quickly to counterattack. He is also extremely fast, demonstrated when he dodges Luffy’s snake form.
- 2) Spearmanship-
Not many characters are seen wielding a spear in One Pece. However, Katakuri’s spearmanship is probably the best in the entire series.
He keeps his spear inside his mochi body and is greatly competent which using it for long-range attacks.
- 3) Haki-
Katakuri’s most powerful asset is his Observation Haki, the best ever shown in the series so far.
He was easily able to predict Luffy’s moves during their fight and develop counter-strategies.
- 4) Devil Fruit-
Katakuri ate the special paramecia type Mochi Mochi No Mi, allowing him to turn his body into Mochi.
It makes him extremely durable during defense by transforming his body into inorganic material.
- 1) Conqueror’s Haki-
While Katakuri can use all three forms of Haki, his Conqueror’s Haki is not well developed. Marco can use this as a counter-measure in combat since Conquerer’s Haki is one of the strongest forms.
- 2) Water-
Water is, in general, bad for all those who have eaten a devil fruit since it makes them an anchor and sinks them.
However, it is much more dangerous for Katakuri since his devil fruit is mochi, affecting his physiology. Unlike King of Marco, he cannot fly, so he is done for good if he falls into the water.
How strong is Marco?
Marco > 3 Admirals
Marco was the former First division fleet commander the Whitebeard Pirates and can defeat all Admirals.
He assumed leadership of the Whitebeard Pirates after Whitebeard’s death until their final disbanding. He is also a significant help to Luffy in the Wano Country Arc.
- 1) Physical Powers-
If you think healers can’t fight, reconsider that again. Marco was one of the most potent forces to be reckoned with in the battle at Marineford.
He singlehandedly held back the three admirals, if only for a short time.
Not only this, but Marco also allows back King and Queen, which is no mean feat by itself. His bounty of 1,374,000,000 bellies, even after working as a healer in Sphinx, shows how dangerous he really was.
- 2) Battle intellect-
While this might not seem much, Marco’s keen battle intellect allowed him to combat and emerge victorious in several deadly fights.
He was also able to hold back the three admirals due to his strategic engagement of all three.
- 3) Devil Fruit-
Marco ate the mythical zoan type Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Phoenix, which allows him to transform into a phoenix with blue flames.
He is able to use the Blue Flames of Resurrection without altering. Due to this, he was able to sustain Akainu’s Magma punch and Kizaru’s light bullets.
- 4) Haki-
Marco can enforce his body in Armament Haki, which significantly amplifies his physical powers and abilities, adding more to these melee attacks. He can also use the Conqueror’s Haki.
- 1) Observation Haki-
Since Marco cannot use the observation Haki and Katakuri is the most substantial user of this form, Katakuri might be able to predict Marco’s attacks. This can become quite a handicap in battle since Katakuri can use all three forms of Haki.
King vs Marco vs Katakuri | Who will win?
1) Based on strength-
Based on simple brute strength, Katakuri would take this round. After all, he is not known as “the monster” for nothing.
King is a better swordsman. However, it comes to simple brute strength without using the devil fruit abilities, Katakuri would easily emerge victoriously.
It is because he could take blows from Luffy’s gear fourth and even then come up with a counterattack.
2) Based on Speed-
King is a Lunarian by origin, so it is only logical that he takes this fight based on speed. A one of the fastest in combat, his devil fruit transformation further adds to his speed in combat.
If he decides to sacrifice his durability for some extra speed, there is no one among the three that could catch him.
While Katakuri and Marco are undoubtedly extremely fast, being able to doge Akainu’s punch and Luffy’s snake form, King stands at a whole new level when it becomes a battle of speed. Nonetheless, King takes this round by a margin.
3) Based on Devil Fruit Abilities-
Things get a bit more heated and exciting when it comes to the devil fruit abilities. However, Marco takes this round by quite a large margin simply because of how much this devil fruit abilities offer.
Katakuri can transform his body into mochi, which significantly increases his defensive powers and adds to his offense.
King can turn into a Pteranodon or a part-Pteranodon based on his requirement. However, none of these abilities can heal actual damage like Marco’s abilities can.
The fact that he was able to take on King and Queen simultaneously shows how deadly his devil fruit powers are.
Marco smoothly takes this round since he can quickly heal any damage and can also fly in his part-phoenix form.
4) Based on Haki-
Katakuri is the strongest Haki user among the three. Katakuri can use the advanced form of Observation and Armament Haki and can also use the primary form of the Conqueror’s Haki.
King can only use the Armament Haki to infuse his attack. While Marco can use both Armament Haki and Conqueror’s Haki, he failed to do much damage to Akainu with his Haki.
However, he will be unaffected by Katakuri’s Conqueror’s Haki since he was able to withstand Shank’s Conqueror’s Haki. Katakuri takes this bout.
5) Based on Durability-
When it comes o durability, the fight can be narrowed down to just between Katakuri and King. It is because healing and durability are two different things.
Katakuri can turn his body into the inorganic mochi, which makes most of the physical attacks.
Being from the Lunarian tribe, King has excellent durability, however, which is sacrificed when he speeds up. Katakuri, therefore, takes this round on durability.
6) Based on tribe-
There can be no debate here. King is the undisputed winner in the context of the tribe, being the last surviving member of the Lunarian race.
Marco’s tribe is yet to be revealed, and Katakuri is just a Big Mom’s fleet member. Based on the sheer inert abilities of the tribe, King takes this round.
7) Based on healing-
While it is true that Katakuri and King have excellent healing, that counts for nothing if Marco can head all the damage dealt upon him.
Since both Katakuri and King do not have healing powers, Marco is the apparent winner in this round.
Therefore, while Katakuri and King’s powers equal an admiral’s, Marco far surpasses that level.
Additionally, due to his keep battle intellect and understanding of combat, he is the sure victor in a conflict between the three.
Therefore, Marco is the strongest among the three.
So there you have it, an apparent reason why Marco takes the battle.
