Barefoot Gen is the perfect anime movie if you want to know the Japanese persons’ Point of View, during the Hiroshima bombings. The movie is set exactly in 1945 when World War 2 was at its peak.
The movie follows the story of Gen Nakaoka, a young and carefree kid living in Hiroshima. However, unbeknownst to everyone living in Hiroshima, is that their city will soon be bombed by America.

The movie is a sequel to Barefoot Gen and is once again closely related to the Hiroshima bombings. It follows the story of Gen and his friends, 3 years after the events of the Hiroshima bombings.
This sequel shows the effects of the Hiroshima bombings on Japanese people in detail. We see many people still suffering from burn scars and many more diseases, in the series.
