In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, all living beings give out a form of energy known as “cursed energy,” although manipulation of that energy is a different matter altogether.

With normal people, it’s challenging to control this flow which results in a continuous discharge of negative energy giving rise to cursed spirits.

The cursed spirits feed off human negativity and are mostly weak; however, under particular circumstances, with the addition of excessive cursed energy, these cursed spirits may turn extremely powerful and actively hunt humans.

Then there are special grade curse spirits that have powers to a whole new level.

Who is Rika in Jujutsu Kaisen?

As we come to know from the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel, Rika Orimoto is one of the few childhood friends of Okkotsu Yuta who died in a car accident.

Due to her strong connection to the mortal world and her promise of passing on together to Okkotsu Yuta, she was turned in to special grade vengeful spirit.

Her immense attachment to Yuta made her cursed spirit attached to him, and he trusted her enough to use her on several battles and allow her full manifestation.

She despised anyone who hurt Yuta and was always willing to accompany him in battle. As a result of being a special grade curse spirit, she had immense curse energy and could easily defeat most other cursed spirits.

Who is Yuta in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuta Okkotsu is a special grade cursed human and the protagonist to the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel: Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

He was enrolled into the Yokyo Jujutsu High by Satoru Gojo and is haunted by the vengeful spirit of his late friend Rika Orimito. He was recruited with the ultimate goal of exorcising Rika.

At present, he is a second year student at Jujutsu High and was training with Miguel in Africa until the Shibuya Incident after which he returned to Japan.

After registering with Jujutsu High, he was immediately registered as a special grade due to Rika’s immense power and won a narrow victory over Geto after unleashing Rika to her maximum power.

He also uses a sword in battle which he charges with his own cursed energy.

Yuta and Rika | Jujutsu Kaisen-

Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto were childhood friends until Rika’s untimely death in a car accident.

Yuta and Rika had promised to marry each other with Rika’s grandmother’s ring, and this unfulfilled promise turned Rika into a vengeful spirit.

As part of the Gojo clan and a distant relative to Satoru Gojo, he was marked out for execution due to his connection with Rika’s vengeful spirit until Gojo decided to use his powers and enrolled him into Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Rika was injured in an accident in 2010 and consequently turned into a vengeful spirit. She is driven by her love for Yuta; however, she often ends up doing more harm than good.

Rika’s immense power attracts Suguro Geto’s attention, and he comes to Jujutsu High to eliminate Yuta and add Rika to his collection.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Rika Orimoto (Queen of Curses) | Power Explanation-

As a special grade vengeful curse spirit, an ultimately manifested Rika was considered to be deadly by the Jujutsu sorcerer hierarchy.

It was only by manifesting her arms that she was feared by both cursed spirits and sorcerers alike.

Her ability to defeat Suguru Geto, the user of over four thousand cursed spirits, showed the extent of her power and gave her the title of Queen of Curses.

Cursed Power of Rika Orimoto-

The fact that Geto was willing to sacrifice all of his four thousand spirits to obtain Rika shows the extent of her powers.

A fully manifested Rika’s cursed energy is unparalleled, so much so that a cursed spirit is frightened by sensing her presence.

When Yuta decides to sacrifice himself, he adds a new level of power to Rika, which allows her to use a technique called True Love.

Cursed Techniques of Rika-

1) Copy Technique-

Rika is able to summon a megaphone with “snake eyes and fangs” that allowed Yuta to copy the cursed technique of the Inumaki famil.

It significantly amplified his cursed power, and he was able to defeat several cursed spirits by simply yelling ‘die’ at them.

2) Adaptability-

Rika can change her form according to Yuta’s combat requirements in battle.

She can increase or decrease her size during battle to match Yuta’s moves and can deflect oncoming blows. She can also use the black sack of curse power to carry wounded comrades in battle.

3) Cursed Energy-

In the battle against Geto, Rika increased Yuta’s mobility and speed to combat. When Yuta violated the limits of cursed energy manipulation, which increased Rika’s power to a whole new level.

4) Pure Love-

This is the most potent attack of Rika. It occurred when Yuta was willing to sacrifice himself, which gave rise to her true form.

She was then able to unleash Pure Love, which was able to defeat Geto’s Tamamo-No-Mae’s Avatar.

Rika vs Sukuna | Queen of Curses vs King of Curses-

While Rika is undoubtedly powerful, it would be just wrong to compare her to Sukuna because Sukuna is at a whole different level.

Yes, Rika does have her copy technique and True Love, but is it enough to defeat the King of Curses? Let’s find out.

1) Based on Cursed Power-

Rika’s power is enough to scare a few cursed spirits, and that’s alright, but when Sukuna awoke, his power was felt through the entire Shibuya.

Geto thought that he could control Rika but never even dreamt of controlling Sukuna, which says a lot about his power.

Sukuna’s cursed energy is almost similar to Gojo’s in an overwhelmingly negative way, and once he gains the power of all twenty fingers, there will be no spotting him. Sukuna takes this round without much difficulty.

2) Speed, Reflexes, Strength-

Rika is bound by her affiliation to Yuta, while Sukuna has one full minute to do whatever he pleases. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat and is shown to have immense strength despite being in his incomplete state.

His tremendous speed and reflexes are shown in the fight against Jogo and Mahoraga, and he is even able to dodge Jogo’s Maximum: Meteor despite being in Itadori’s body while Rika was struggling with Geto’s attacks.

He also has an immense tactical intellect and takes this round of bout as well.

3) Based on Abilities-

Rika can manifest a megaphone with “snake eyes and fangs” of the Inumaki family that allows her to amplify her cursed power.

Sukuna is able to metamorphosize the body he inhabits and has extremely swift reflexes that allows him to dodge any attacks even in his emancipated state.

His immense durability and power of regeneration is formidable, and Rika can do the same. Let’s call this round a draw.

4) Based on Techniques-

Sukuna takes this one with an overwhelming majority. He can use Reversed Cursed Energy, has a binding vow with Itadori.

It can dismantle and cleave, and also has a (yet-unnamed) fire technique, while Rika has her copy technique and Pure Love. Sukuna wins this round as well.

5) Domain Expansion-

Well, to put it this way, Rika does not have a domain expansion, while Sukuna’s Malevolent Shine is as dangerous as it can be, which looks like a Buddhist shrine decorated with skulls.

By allowing an escape route through binding vows, Sukuna has a guaranteed hit up to 200 meters of radius and takes this bout as well.

Can Rika beat Sukuna?

The answer is No. Despite all of her abilities and powers, Sukuna will win with an overwhelming majority due to his innate reserves of cursed energy and battle intellect, even bound to the body of Itadori.

Rika, however, can be expected to put up a good fight, and if she’s allowed to fully manifest, then the consequent increase in her powers will make the battle worthy of two special-grade curse powers.

The only way Rika can defeat Sukuna is if Itadori does not allow Sukuna to manifest or if the binding vow of one minute gets over.

However, given Sukuna’s domain expansion, he has an immense advantage over Rika and, with his strategy making, will surely be able to figure that out and use it in battle.
