One Piece is returning after the month-long break with a bang. Currently in its Final Saga, it’s safe to say that the beloved manga is reaching new heights with every chapter now. And the much-awaited Chapter 1087 doesn’t differ from this trend either.
For all the fans who have been eagerly waiting for our favorite pirates to return, here are One Piece Chapter 1087 spoilers with raw scans.
One Piece Chapter 1087 Complete Spoilers
The title of One Piece Chapter 1087 is “Battleship Bag”. It is a reference to Garp using battleships as sandbags to practice his infamous punches. Kuzan later took on this practice, and it became a memento of their connection ever since.
In the cover page art, we see Ace using his fire to warm water for the capybaras to bath in.
Here are the spoilers of One Piece Chapter 1087:
I. Garp vs. Blackbeard Pirates
In One Piece Chapter 1087 which starts with Brannew showing Jango and Fullbody two huge, ruined battleships at Marine Base G-1. He explains to the two Garp’s habit of practicing punches on battleships.
Brannew further explains that the second ship used to be the one former Marine admiral Kuzan practiced his punches on. He and Garp had this rule where they never used their Haki or devil fruit powers while practicing these punches.
Back on Hachinosu, Garp is in an intense battle against the Blackbeard Pirates. The SWORD team has rescued the prisoners and are on the ship, sailing away to safety. That leaves only Prince Grus and Koby with Garp. However, the vice-admiral is proving to be the greatest adversary to the Blackbeard Pirates all by himself.
Garp is simultaneously fighting against Blackbeard commanders like San Juan Wolf and Vasco Shot, not to mention the former admiral Kuzan. While it’s literally many against one, Garp is still getting the upper hand and proving why he has the same bounty as the admirals.
Garp has managed to throw San Juan Wolf into the sea offscreen. And when Vasco Shot uses a technique called Heavy Drinker: Furnace Flame to spit flames at Garp, the vice-admiral uses the fallen bodies of the defeated members of the Blackbeard Pirates as shields, then throws the burning bodies around to set the surroundings on fire, naming this technique Pirate Fireballs.
Garp is clearly winning, and that’s why the Blackbeard Pirates resort to treachery. If the fight is to continue normally, then the whole island of Blackbeard Pirates will be defeated by Garp, and that’s why they choose foul play.
II. Who Stabs Garp and How?
When Koby notices a woman being attacked by a pirate, he goes to help her. But the woman turns out to be a pirate too. This is when Shiryu comes into the picture, using the invisibility power of his Suke Suke no Mi, and is about to stab Koby when Garp notices him and stops his blade before he can stab Koby.
In this altercation, Garp is stabbed by Shiryu instead. He retaliates by throwing Shiryu to the floor, but the former jailor is laughing despite being injured himself. When Koby apologizes frantically to Garp, he tells the young man that Shiryu’s target was Garp from the beginning.
Finally finding an opening, all of the Blackbeard Pirates attack the wounded Garp, and reveal that according to Cross Guild, Garp’s bounty is the same as the admirals: 3 crowns or 3,000 million bellies.
III. Garp vs. Kuzan
Garp and Kuzan exchange fists for the second time. The first time, Garp used Blue Hole to punch Kuzan through the ground, rendering him unavailable for some time. But he’s recovered from the attack, and is back for round two. For this round, however, the emotional connection between Garp and Kuzan is explored through a flashback.
There is a flashback of Garp and Kuzan, and the first time they met. It was seemingly before the execution of Roger as Garp looks quite young in the flashback. Kuzan, as a fresh-faced young man, asked Garp to be his master. But he told Kuzan to go train with the Marine Instructors instead.
Kuzan didn’t give up, and began to punch the battleship like Garp. Over time he became stronger and his punch became more powerful, almost to the level of Garp. And throughout this, he got close to Garp. The vice-admiral even shared his woes about his family with Kuzan.
Garp: “My son became a Revolutionary, damnit! And my grandson said he will become a pirate! Like I’d let him!”
Kuzan annoyingly responded: “What does that have to do with me!?”
In the present, Garp tells Koby and Prince Grus to run while he stops Kuzan and the Blackbeard Pirates by himself, despite being wounded. Kuzan uses a technique called Ice Glove, and he and Garp punch each other in the face with Haki infused fists, creating a huge explosion that blows them away.
IV. Garp’s Sacrifice
Throughout Chapter 1087, Garp has demonstrated why he’s considered as the Hero of the Marines. Not only does he relentlessly fight a whole island of pirates to give the SWORD members to rescue the prisoners and leave safely with them, but also keeps on fighting even after he’s stabbed.
Garp also willingly takes Shiryu’s blade for Koby, and makes sure to not let the young man feel guilty about it. He bravely fights on in his injured self and promises to hold off Kuzan and the other pirates to give Koby and Prince Grus the opportunity to leave safely. His sacrifice is as great as it is heartwarming.
V. Is Garp Really Going to Die? (The End of Old Era)
The chapter will make fans worry whether Garp is really going to die. The last panel of the chapter has Garp bleeding on the ground, and telling a panicked Koby: “Koby, don’t panic… Justice will prevail!”
The scene is melancholic, and can mean Garp’s heartbreaking demise after suffering such injuries. But given by the trend of One Piece and Eiichiro Oda’s personal dislike of killing characters, it’s safe to bet that while Garp will no longer be able to fight, he’ll indeed keep on living.
Maybe Koby will take Garp’s condition as the final push that gets him to unleash his potential. There is also Avalo Pizarro who uses his devil fruit powers to huge arms from the island and is ready to crush Garp’s ship. Koby could be the one to stop that in the next chapter.
