10 Facts about Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen

1) Yuji Was Born with Superhuman Strength and Speed

Yuji Was Born with Superhuman Strength and Speed

One of the primary characteristics of Yuji that we’re introduced to in the very first chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen is his impressive physical abilities that border on being superhuman. Throughout the series, he’s shown numerous examples of his extraordinary physical prowess.

Yuji can run 50 meters within 3 seconds, which means he has a speed higher than the world record. His strength is just as impressive, being able to throw cars like it’s nothing. In fact, Yuji’s fighting style is entirely centered around his superhuman powers.

2) Yuji Is Resistant to Poison

Yuji Is Resistant to Poison

Being the vessel of Sukuna, Yuji is confirmed to be resistant to all kinds of poison. That is because Sukuna is the King of Curses, and thus, has a resistance to any and all poison. This resistance of his is also shared with his vessels.

Upon being injected with poison, Yuji doesn’t suffer through its lethal property. But he does feel the pain caused by the poison. This is shown during his battle alongside Nobara Kugisaki against Eso and Kechizu

Since Yuji is no longer the vessel of Sukuna, he may not have the resistance to poison anymore. However, it hasn’t been confirmed.

3) The Two Visible Scars on Yuji’s Face Are Both Given by Mahito

The Two Visible Scars on Yuji’s Face Are Both Given by Mahito

Yuji goes through a lot of significant changes in the Shibuya Incident Arc. Though most of these changes are internal, a visible one is the scars he receives on his face. After the Shibuya Incident Arc, he has two prominent scars on his face: one is a slash across his face and the other one is at the right side of his mouth.

Both of these scars are caused by Mahito when the two clash during the Shibuya Incident Arc. Unlike every other injury Yuji has suffered until this point, Sukuna doesn’t heal these scars, causing them to be the only visible scars on Yuji.

4) Yuji Is the Son of Kenjaku

Kaori Itadori

One of the most shocking twists of the Shibuya Incident Arc and Jujutsu Kaisen in general is the revelation that Kenjaku is Yuji’s mother. This is shown in a small flashback when Kenjaku and Uraume clash against Yuki Tsukumo, Choso, and a number of jujutsu sorcerers.

As it is revealed, Kaori was the wife of Jin Itadori. After her death, Kenjaku possessed her body and mated with Jin, resulting in the birth of Yuji. That means while the body belonged to Kaori, it was Kenjaku who conceived and birthed Yuji. The reason behind Kenjaku’s decision is still a mystery, but there must have been more to the existence of Yuji Itadori.

5) Yuji Is the “Younger Half-Brother” of Choso, Kechizu, and Eso

Yuji Is the “Younger Half-Brother” of Choso, Kechizu, and Eso

The Cursed Womb: Death Paintings are Special Grade cursed objects born from a human woman and cursed spirits due to the experiments of Noritoshi Kamo during the Meiji Era. There are a total of nine Death Paintings and the first three are incarnated as Choso, Kechizu, and Eso.

It is later revealed that the one who created the Death Paintings was in fact Kenjaku using the body of Noritoshi Kamo. According to Choso, the Death Paintings have three parents: their mother, the cursed spirit who impregnated her, and the one who was responsible for it.

That makes all of the Death Paintings the children of Kenjaku. Since Yuji is also a child of Kenjaku, he has a deep connection with the Death Paintings, the strongest of which seems to be with Choso. The connection is so deep that during his fight against Yuji, Choso suffers from a false memory where he sees Yuji with his brothers and himself.

6) Yuji Still Doesn’t Have a Cursed Technique

Yuji Still Doesn’t Have a Cursed Technique

Jujutsu sorcerers channel their cursed energy into a special ability that suits their fighting style and helps them exorcize curses. Every jujutsu sorcerer has a specific Cursed Technique that they have either manifested with training or inherited from their ancestors.

Yuji, despite being the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen, has no specific Cursed Technique. This is because he didn’t even know the existence of curses and cursed energy before his encounter with Megumi Fushiguro. Even after training under Satoru Gojo, Yuji hasn’t developed a Cursed Technique yet.

7) Yuji Is One of the Only Three Known People to Perform Black Flash Four Times in a Row

Yuji Is One of the Only Three Known People to Perform Black Flash Four Times in a Row

In fights, Yuji relies heavily on his superhuman physical abilities and martial arts skills. After training with Gojo, he learns to channel his cursed energy into his attacks and masters his signature move, Divergent Fist.

But Yuji’s greatest feat as of yet is his usage of Black Flash. Black Flash is a move only a few jujutsu sorcerers are said to have performed. Among them, Kento Nanami is noted to have a record of performing Black Flash four times in a row during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.

Later, during his fight against Hanami, Yuji also performs Black Flash four times in a row in his very first attempt at the technique. Later, unsurprisingly Gojo also matches the same feat effortlessly. That means Yuji is one of the only three jujutsu sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen to perform Black Flash four times in a row.

8) Yuji’s Hair Color Is Natural

Yuji’s Hair Color Is Natural

The most noticeable thing about Yuji’s appearance is his unique colored hair. Yuji has short pink hair with a black undercut. This dual color of his hair has led to many questioning whether it is Yuji’s natural hair color or if it’s dyed. However, mangaka Gege Akutami has confirmed that it is indeed the natural color of Yuji’s natural hair.

In the earlier colored arts of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji used to have blond hair with a dark undercut. But the latter and more recent art have Yuji consistently in pink hair, similar to the anime. So, currently, Yuji canonically has pink hair.

9) Yuji May Have a Deeper Connection to Sukuna

Yuji May Have a Deeper Connection to Sukuna

While we’re discussing Yuji’s pink hair, let’s remind ourselves of the other character who also has pink hair: Ryomen Sukuna. For the majority of Jujutsu Kaisen, Sukuna appears as his vessel. When he’s inside Yuji, Sukuna looks just like the teenager with the added markings on his face and body and swept-back hair.

After taking possession of Megumi’s body, he looks like Megumi with similar changes. However, the original body of Sukuna has only been shown a few times, but we’re guaranteed to see more of it now that he has gotten his real body back.

In a cover art that features the original body of Sukuna, he is seen with pink hair, though the color is a bit darker. However, the similarity in such a unique hair color raises the question if there is a deeper connection between Yuji and Sukuna that is yet to be revealed. If that is the case, then it would also explain how Yuji can subdue Sukuna’s consciousness so easily.

10) Yuji May Have Unlocked a New Power

Yuji May Have Unlocked a New Power

After the death of Gojo, Sukuna fights against Hajime Kashimo and regains his original body. When Kashimo is also easily killed and Kinji Hakari is engaging with Uraume, Yuji and Hiromi Higuruma are the ones who enter the battlefield against Sukuna. Needless to say, this is one of the most significant fights of the series.

Of course, defeating Sukuna is no easy feat and Yuji has already suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the King of Curses after he’s taken over Megumi’s body. But now that he’s about to fight Sukuna again, we can expect that Yuji hasn’t come without some plans and preparations.

During the short span between the declaration of battle and the day of the battle, Yuji is shown to have trained extensively and the results may show in this fight. This new power could be hinted at in a small detail: when Yuji enters the battlefield against Sukuna, his fingers are shown to be unnaturally sharp, which is unprecedented for him. This can be a small show of his newly awakened powers.
