Slam Dunk Plot-

The Slam Dunk series revolves around Hanamichi Sakuragi, a redhead temperamental young boy. As he enrolls in Shohoku High, he attempts to leave behind his delinquent reputation and finally get a girlfriend.

This is where he meets Haruko Akagi, who appears like a ray of hope to his 50 times reject record. After noticing his height, she asks him if he likes basketball, and to impress her; he says yes.

Naturally, she asks him to do a slam dunk which he willingly agrees to win her over. And so, as one normally would, he runs up and shoots the ball. However, he not only overshoots but instead of a slam dunk, he slams his head into the blackboard.

Seeing his amazing physical prowess Haruko informs the basketball team captain of his abilities. And after a series of events, Sakuragi ends up joining the basketball team.

The characters of this series are well developed with gradually evolving growth. Unlike most present-day series, this one focuses on overall team spirit instead of a single character.

Furthermore, the most interesting aspect lies in its manga. The easy-to-read manga panels and well-explained and illustrated plot can easily serve as a basketball guide.

Every aspect, right from the basketball moves to the fouls, is explained in detail. Thus the series not only gives a realistic explanation of the game but also makes it enjoyable.

At first glance, the art style may seem a little rustic, but the great plot and the character attachments keep it high. As the series explores the wonders of friendship, rivalry, support, & the love of a game, its true essence is revealed. Thus we highly recommend that you watch this anime.
