Yuta vs. Kenjaku: Who Is Stronger?

Kenjaku’s fight against Fumihiko Takaba ended with a surprising and exhilarating note when Yuta Okkotsu suddenly appeared and sliced off Kenjaku’s head with one fell swoop. While this intriguing development has awed the readers, we’re also left to wonder what would happen if Yuta and Kenjaku were to clash in their full power. So here, we’ll be discussing Yuta vs. Kenjaku and who is stronger between them.

To determine who’s stronger between Yuta and Kenjaku, we’ll first look at their powers and abilities and then compare how they would fare against each other. Before we begin, however, remember a spoiler alert is in full effect from now on.

Now let’s see how Yuta vs. Kenjaku would go:

Yuta Okkotsu: Powers and Abilities

Yuta Okkotsu: Powers and Abilities

Introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen as a second-year student of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuta Okkotsu is also the protagonist of the prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Having accidentally cursed his childhood friend and love interest, Rika Orimoto, Yuta has lived in fear ever since with Rika’s vengeful spirit hovering over him. Thanks to his time in Tokyo Jujutsu High, he broke Rika’s curse and went to Africa to train with Miguel.

Immeasurable Cursed Energy Capacity

Immeasurable Cursed Energy

Yuta is one of the four Special Grade jujutsu sorcerers and a descendant of Michizane Sugawara, Japan’s most powerful vengeful spirit, making him a distant relative of Satoru Gojo. Thanks to his heritage, Yuta possesses an immeasurable amount of cursed energy, making it impossible for him to run out. Currently, he’s the only jujutsu sorcerer confirmed to have immeasurable cursed energy.

  • Black Flash: When facing difficult adversaries, a jujutsu sorcerer or cursed spirit can go into a zone of extreme concentration where they can create a spatial distortion upon hitting their cursed energy to their opponent within 0.000001 seconds of landing the physical blow, causing the cursed energy to flash black. Yuta used Black Flash against Suguru Geto during their fight.

Rika

Rika

What makes Yuta so dangerous is the Special Grade cursed spirit of his dead friend Rika attached to him. In the beginning, Rika was a vengeful cursed spirit tethered to Yuta after the boy unknowingly cursed her at the time of her death. After his fight against Geto, Yuta broke the curse and Rika’s spirit disappeared.

It later appeared again, this time more manageable but equally powerful. Rika’s power is to such an extent that Geto called her the Queen of Curses. After the curse is broken, Yuta can summon Rika at will and without any outburst of intense emotions. While he mostly manifests Rika personally, he can also summon her fully by using his ring.

While Rika is tethered to Yuta and usually attacks on his command, she can act independently and at certain distances.

Cursed Technique: Copy

Cursed Technique: Copy

Yuta’s Cursed Technique, while seeming simple, is very powerful and useful in fights. While connected to Rika with the ring, he can use his Cursed Technique, Copy, to replicate others’ Cursed Techniques. The condition for him to be able to do that is still unknown but he’s demonstrated his power multiple times.

  • Cursed Speech: The Cursed Speech is a Cursed Technique that runs in the Inumaki Family and is possessed by Toge Inumaki. During his fight against Geto, Yuta replicated his technique by having Rika manifest a megaphone and infusing it with his cursed energy to bear the Snake Eyes and Fangs symbol and used Cursed Speech for the first time. After returning from Africa, Yuta can use Cursed Speech directly with his mouth using Copy.
  • Shikigami: By copying the Cursed Technique of Dhruv Lakdawalla, Yuta can summon a group of Shikigami. The Shikigami have bat wings and a face similar to Rika. They fly as a group around the opponent and create a sphere around them before manifesting a domain that slashes everything inside.
  • Sky Manipulation: Originally, Sky Manipulation is the Cursed Technique of Takako Uro which gives her the ability to use and manipulate the sky or the space as a tangible surface. Yuta replicates this technique after Rika eats one of Uro’s arms.
  • Thin Ice Breaker: This is the application of Sky Manipulation in which the user attacks the surface of the sky instead of the physical body of the opponent. The impact created from the crack in the space is powerful enough to severely injure the opponent.

Reversed Cursed Technique

Yuta Reversed Cursed Technique

Yuta is one of the very few jujutsu sorcerers able to use the Reverse Cursed Technique to heal himself and replenish his burnt-out cursed energy. However, he’s special in the sense that unlike most jujutsu sorcerers capable of using the Reverse Cursed Technique, Yuta can also heal others.

Domain Expansion

Domain Expansion

During the time Yuta was away in Africa, he mastered his Domain Expansion at some point. The name and nature of his Domain are still unknown because before he can completely open his Domain against Ryu Ishiguro and Takako Uro in a three-way battle, they are stopped. However, given how powerful Yuta in general is and his confidence in opening his Domain, we can safely assume that he has a very strong and well-constructed Domain Expansion.

Kenjaku: Powers and Abilities

Kenjaku: Powers and Abilities

Kenjaku is an ancient curse user and a major antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen. He currently possesses the body of the deceased Special Grade curse user, Suguru Geto. Using Geto’s body, Kenjaku allies himself with a group of Special Grade curses to imprison Gojo and start the Culling Game. Currently, he’s allied with Ryomen Sukuna, thanks to a Binding Vow.

Innate Cursed Technique

Innate Cursed Technique

Kenjaku’s Innate Cursed Technique is still unnamed but it is shown to be an advantageous ability. His Cursed Technique allows him to transplant his brain into a deceased body and control it as his own. By possessing a body, he gets access to the memories and Cursed Techniques of the individual.

After possessing a body, there is a noticeable suture scar on the forehead, hinting at the brain transplant.

Kenjaku has been living for hundreds of years by using his Cursed Technique. In the story, he has four confirmed vessels whose body he possessed. One of these vessels is a jujutsu sorcerer from 400 years ago whose body he uses to make a Binding Vow with Hajime Kashimo. The other three are Noritoshi Kamo, Kaori Itadori, and Suguru Geto respectively.

Cursed Spirit Manipulation

Cursed Spirit Manipulation

Cursed Spirit Manipulation is Geto’s Cursed Technique that Kenjaku can use after possessing his body. With this technique, the user can absorb any curse they exorcize and add them to their armory to use them later at their will. It is one of the most dangerous and useful Cursed Techniques that made Geto a Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer.

Geto had a huge number of curses under his control, including some Special Grades like Smallpox Deity which can use their own Domain Expansions. Kenjaku now has control over all of them.

  • Maximum: Uzumaki: This is the ultimate technique of Cursed Spirit Manipulation where every curse under the user’s control is combined to make one huge catastrophe. It appears as a whirlpool and is thus named Uzumaki. When used against any cursed spirit of Semi Grade 1 or above, it also allows the user to extract the Cursed Technique of the opponent. This is shown when Kenjaku uses it against Mahito to absorb his Idle Transfiguration.

Antigravity System

Antigravity System

The Antigravity System used to belong to Kaori Itadori, the wife of Jin Itadori. After her death, Kenjaku took over her body, and after mating with her husband, gave birth to Yuji Itadori. Possessing her body also gave him control of the Antigravity System which allows the user to negate gravity. Kenjaku uses cursed technique reversal on it to increase the gravity around him.

Reverse Cursed Technique

Being an ancient and powerful curse user, Kenjaku can use the Reverse Cursed Technique to heal the body he’s currently inhabiting as well as replenish his used cursed energy.

Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion

Domain Expansion: Womb Profusion

Kenjaku’s Domain Expansion, Womb Profusion, is one of the only two open-barrier domains shown in the story. His domain takes up an unknown amount of space and there is a giant totem made of cursed spirits at the center of it. The faces of curses on the totem can shoot out powerful blasts from their mouths but the true extent of its power is unknown.

Yuta vs. Kenjaku: Who Is Stronger?

Yuta vs. Kenjaku: Who Is Stronger?

Both Yuta and Kenjaku are two of the strongest characters in the series. While Yuta himself is a Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer, Kenjaku possesses the body and Cursed Technique of one. In fact, Yuta clashed with Geto and defeated the man during his first year. He has also gotten much stronger ever since then.

However, we also have to keep in mind that Kenjaku’s powers aren’t limited to Geto’s powers. He has the Antigravity System and his own Domain Expansion and maybe many other unrevealed powers. Kenjaku is also a shrewd strategist who isn’t afraid to use dirty tricks.

But if they are to clash with full powers, we can safely assume that Yuta will win. Not only is his cursed energy immeasurable and his Cursed Technique very diverse but he also has Rika in his corner. Once Yuta completely manifests Rika and the two gang up against Kenjaku, it’s hard to imagine him fighting back with equal potency.

As for the Domain battle, the result remains a bit murky because Yuta’s Domain isn’t revealed yet. Keeping Yuta’s power in mind, the Domain will surely be one of the strongest in the series with a skilled construction. Its chances of being barrierless are low since only two characters have barrierless Domains and both are sorcerers from the past.

If Yuta’s Domain has a barrier and clashes with Kenjaku’s barrierless Domain, Kenjaku’s Womb Profusion can destroy Yuta’s Domain. If Yuta’s Domain is also barrierless, he will have a better advantage. Aside from the Domain battle, Yuta will be the winner of the Yuta vs. Kenjaku fight.

Conclusion

We’ve reached the conclusion of our Yuta vs. Kenjaku discussion. In the manga, Yuta finished off Kenjaku with only one blow and as we see, if they were to fight for a longer period, Yuta would still defeat Kenjaku. When it comes to power, Yuta is the clear winner.

However, as we’ve come to expect from Jujutsu Kaisen, sometimes it’s not about just power. There could be more in play and even if Yuta has beheaded Kenjaku for the time being, we can’t be sure that this is the end of the parasitic curse user. But as long as Yuta is alive, it surely won’t be easy for Kenjaku to achieve his plans.
