Note: We will begin our list with the former Hashira who have retired. We don’t know their actual power level in prime time, so we will be listing them at the beginning of the list. Moreover, they are currently retired due to their ages, that’s why it’s better to rank them last.

32) Tanjuro Kamado

Tanjuro was the father of Tanjiro and Nezuko. He was the descendant of Sumiyoshi, who passed on the Hinokami Kagura. 

Despite his illness that made him frail, he was incredibly strong and could perform the dance from nightfall to sunrise. Furthermore, he had complete control over his breathing and was incredibly perceptive of his surroundings through the Transparent World. 

Other than this, he also used the Sun Breathing style through the Hinokami Kagura and thus possessed the Demon Slayer Mark. We can estimate him as one of the strongest characters in Demon Slayer.

31) Jigoro Kuwajima

Starting our list with the retired Thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima, who was the teacher of Zenitsu and Kaigaku. He was the Thunder Hashira in his prime, which was enough to state how powerful he was. He knew all six breathing techniques of Thunder Breathing.

His students Zenitsu and Kaigaku have become very powerful and self-sufficient at a very young age. The series hasn’t revealed much about him, but he committed seppuku when he knew that his former student Kaigaku became a demon in greed for more power. 30) Sakonji Urokodaki

29) Shinjuro Rengoku

28) Kanae Kocho

Another character whose true potential hasn’t been explored in the story is Kanae Kocho. She was the elder sister of Shinobu and adopted Kanao as their sister. Kanae was also the Flower Hashira, being one of the youngest people in the role of a Hashira.

27) Yushiro

Yushiro accompanies Tamayo on her travels and is devotedly in love with her. He becomes a trusted ally to the Kamado Siblings after their encounter in the Asakusa Arc. 

While Yushiro’s Blood Demon Art might not seem suited for battle, Blindfold is an exceptionally helpful ability to have. It is great for support and very versatile. Yushiro can use his Blindfold to hide or reveal someone’s presence along with enhancing someone’s vision and even controlling their minds.

26) Rui

Rui is the first glimpse of the frightening Twelve Kizuki of Muzan. He is the Lower Moon Six but his immense strength shows our heroes exactly how dangerous even the lowest of the Twelve Kizuki be.

Rui’s powers are similar to a spider’s, his Blood Demon Art being Thread Manipulation. With this power, he can puppeteer any being and even use it as a weapon. It took the joint efforts of the Kamado Siblings to defeat him.

25) Enmu

Enmu becomes a noteworthy character in the Mugen Train Arc and proves himself to be one of the strongest Demon Slayer characters. He is the Lower Moon One demon.

Enmu’s Blood Demon Art allows him to affect a large number of people and induce sleep in them. He can also manipulate their dreams to his benefit. Enmu controlled the entirety of the Mugen Train which also had a Hashira with his powers.

24) Kaigaku

Kaigaku was a replacement of the Upper Rank Six demon who trained under the former Thunder Hashira. He was a cowardly Demon Slayer who often chose to surrender instead of fighting. 

He gained his powers through Kokushibo and further increased it by eating humans. As a demon, he used the Thunder Breathing style with the Blood Demon Art that allows electrokinesis. 

Kaigaku had mastered a total of five forms but was not able to master the first form of Thunder Breathing. But overall, his skills pale in comparison to Zenitsu, who only knows a mere two forms of Thunder Breathing.

23) Nakime

Although Nakime is a powerful demon, her Blood Demon Art is not used in combat. She can manipulate space and create many portals in the Infinity Castle. She is chosen for Upper Moon Four after Hantengu’s death.

Very efficient in her job, she, however, ends up being controlled by Yushiro. For that reason, Muzan discards her. It is challenging to rank her as we haven’t seen her true potential. That’s why we placed her in the 23rd place.

22) Tamayo

Introduced in the Asakusa Arc, Tamayo is one of the only two demons outside the effects of Muzan Kibutsuji. She was the former subordinate of the demon and hated him for giving her this inhuman fate. Tamayo plays a crucial role in Muzan’s defeat.

The true power of Tamayo lies in the versatility of her ability. Her Blood Demon Art is Spell Casting which allows her to use her blood to rouse various effects on her enemies. This proves to be an extremely dangerous power in the hands of someone as cunning as Tamayo.

21) Kanao Tsuyuri

Kanao Tsuyuri is the adoptive sister of Kanae and Shinobu Kocho and a member of the Demon Slayer Corp. She practices Flower Breathing, inherited from her late sister, with her light pink Nichirin sword.

Her Flower Breathing has a total of seven forms, the final form being Final Form: Equinoctial Vermilion Eye. Kanao’s talented swordsmanship allows her to defeat Douma with the help of Inosuke and Shinobu’s poison. Her strength and unwavering will make her one of the strongest Demon Slayer characters.

20) Inosuke Hashibira and Zenitsu Agatsuma

These two characters are the strongest Demon Slayer characters. This is because they have risen to the ranks of the Hashira through sheer effort.

Zenitsu was initially displayed as a cowardly character meant for comic relief. However, he has one of the best character development. 

He was trained by the former Thunder Hashira Jigoro Kuwajima but only learned the first form of Thunder Breathing. First Form: Thunderclap and Flash is used best when combined with the extension of Godspeed to produce the fastest output. 

Later on in the manga, he also reveals a newly created form Seventh Form: Flaming Thunder God. Furthermore, he was also able to defeat an Upper Rank Six demon by himself.

His talents are best showcased with Inosuke’s wild Beast Breathing style. This was especially showcased in the Entertainment District Arc.

Inosuke grew up in the wild and thus has developed abilities like poison resistance, extrasensory perception, and a keen sense of nature. His Beast Breathing style is developed by himself and has a total of eleven forms called fangs. In short, both Inosuke & Zenitsu are on the same level.

19) Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko is the demon sister of Tanjiro, who gained her powers after surviving an attack from Muzan. Much like her brother, she’s strong-headed and protective of others. 

As a demon, she can manipulate her body size and transform into a stronger and complete demon form. Furthermore, she also has regeneration and ultimately developed resistance to sunlight. 

Her Blood Demon Art is pyrokinesis which manifests in the form of an engulfing flame. This flame is only fatal to demons, can explode, and can also burn demon poisons from humans.

18) Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu Kocho was the Insect Hashira and practiced Insect Breathing style. Since she was not entirely physically strong, she focused on minor movements like sword thrusts and stab speed.

It is important to note that the only aspect she lacked is raw power but otherwise excels in areas of reflex and reaction. She was incredibly smart and talented in pharmaceutical knowledge. 

Shinobu played a vital role in the final battle against Muzan with her poisons. Ultimately, she made her body poisonous enough to weaken Muzan through a four-stage drug that led to his downfall.

17) Tengen Uzui

Tengen is the Sound Hashira and the creator of the Sound Breathing style. He has a sharp sense of hearing and can locate his enemies through vibrations of sound. 

He also wields dual blades that are used in collaboration with blasts to deal a great amount of damage. Being a ninja, he is extremely skilled in combat and uses multiple methods to ensure success. 

However, he mostly uses his blades to produce Sound Breathing Forms that are enhanced by his impressive swordsmanship.

16) Gyutaro and Daki

Daki and Gyutaro were siblings who shared the Upper Rank Six demon title. They appeared in the Entertainment District Arc and shared a lifeline that ensures death only when their heads are cut off together. 

Daki’s Blood Demon Art was Sash Manipulation which lets her store people into her sash and uses it as an equipment. She could also control the texture and toughness of the sash. 

Gyutaro’s Blood Demon Art was Blood Manipulation which allows him to harden and condense his blood into equipment. He could also use it as a poison to coat his sickle. 

Both of them also possessed other demon abilities like regeneration and super strength like those of other demons.

15) Gyokko

Gyokko was an Upper Moon Five demon that appears in the Swordsmith Village Arc. He emerged from a pot and used water or fishing-based attacks. 

His fighting style was linked to his past of finding fascination about death as an art. Gyokko’s Blood Demon Art was linked to his pot, where he can summon demonic aquatic creatures. 

He could also manipulate water to use it as a water prison and transform it into a merman form. In this form, he could turn anything he touches into a fish and then stored it in his pot.

14) Kyojuro Rengoku

Kyojuro was the Flame Hashira who played a significant role in the Mugen Train Arc. He was an extremely skilled swordsman with a brave heart. 

Along with Flame Breathing style, he was also extremely skilled in Total Concentration Breathing. Despite not awakening his Demon Slayer Mark, he was able to take on an Upper Moon Three demon, Akaza. 

He also managed to protect 5 train compartments by himself from Enmu and did so with multiple injuries. The only reason why he doesn’t rank higher is that he didn’t survive long enough for the special Hashira Training. 

If he had been granted a little more time, he would’ve gained the Demon Slayer Mark. This would’ve indeed raised his immense strength to higher levels.

13) Mitsuri Kanroji

Mitsuri was the Love Hashira and the creator of the Love Breathing style. She awakened the Demon Slayer Mark during the final chapters of the manga. 

Her body was extremely flexible and durable due to her unique muscle composition. Her muscle composition was eight times the density of a normal human. 

This allows her to maintain body structure even after heavy damage is dealt with. The Love Breathing style used whip-like sword attacks that change paths. When clubbed with her flexibility, it was very difficult to deal with.

12) Obanai Iguro

Obanai was the Serpent Hashira and the creator of the Serpent Breathing style. Since he was partially blind, he was guided by a snake called Kaburamaru, who communicated and helped him to locate his opponents. 

In the Sunrise Countdown Arc, he awakened his Demon Slayer Mark and showcased the best stamina and endurance amongst all other Hashira. His attacks and forms were mostly based on the movement of serpents and his serpent-shaped katana.

11) Hantengu

This Upper Moon Four demon appeared in the Swordsmith Village Arc. He was a cowardly demon that uses the Blood Demon Art that includes Emotion Manifestation. 

This let him split himself into 7 parts, of which one part is the original form that is tiny and stealthy. The six parts are Sekido (anger), Karaku (relaxed), Aizetsu (sorrow), Urogi (delight), Zohakuten (hate), and Urami (resentment).

His manifestations specialized in lightning, wind, spears, birds and sonic sounds, and wood attacks, respectively. These forms can also merge to form a single manifestation that possesses all the aforementioned abilities.

10) Muichiro Tokito

Muichiro was the Mist Hashira and was also the descendant of Upper Moon One demon, Kokushibo. This child prodigy was even younger than Tanjiro and became a Hashira after 2 months of training.

He used the Mist Breathing style and even developed the Seventh Form: Obscuring Clouds. He awakened his Demon Slayer Mark during his fight against the Upper Moon Five and had also fought against Kokushibo.

In his fight against Kokushibo, he gained access to the Transparent World and even dealt a considerable amount of damage.

9) Sanemi Shinazugawa

Sanemi is the Wind Hashira and uses the Wind Breathing style. He awakened his Demon Slayer Mark against the Upper Moon One demon. 

When he initially joined the Demon Slayer Corps, his acquaintance and he defeated a Lower Rank 1 demon together. In the Sunrise Countdown Arc, he displayed an immense amount of strength and endurance against the demons. 

He also has one of the rarest blood types that have a great effect on the focus of demons. Furthermore, his Wing Breathing style has multiple forms that can be used in long-range attacks.

8) Giyu Tomioka

Giyu is the Water Hashira and specializes in the Water Breathing style. He has defeated multiple demons with his superior swordsmanship, including the Father Spider Demon and the Lower Moon Five. 

After awakening the Demon Slayer Mark, his swordsmanship and skills were praised by even Akaza. And since he learned the water breathing style from the previous water Hashira, he is the most skilled user to exist.

Due to his existence for multiple centuries as a demon, he gained 16 forms of his Moon Breathing style. He possessed abilities similar to that of Muzan in terms of regeneration and strength. 

Impressively, he was able to take on 3 Hashira with awakened Demon Slayer Marks plus another Demon Slayer. He had three pairs of eyes and access to the transparent world in his complete demon form. 

Further, his flesh also extends to his sword, and his Blood Demon Art includes a collaboration of the Breath of Moon and the Crescent Moon Blade. Thus making him the most powerful Demon Slayer character in terms of demonic skill.

Muzan was the Demon King and progenitor of all other demons. He had multiple forms and ultimately took on 5 Hashira and 4 other Demon Slayers together.
