At this point, even the people outside the anime community are no strangers to the popular shounen series Jujutsu Kaisen, filled with some of the strongest characters. Written by Gege Akutami, the series is based on the concept of Jujutsu Sorcery using cursed energy.
The plot is unique, with many complex elements and different concepts blended. Animated by Mappa Studio, the anime received a lot of praise worldwide for its stunning art style and quality.
Currently, the story has progressed quite far into the verse. Hence, many interesting, powerful, and unique characters have been introduced. So today, we bring you a list of the top 30 strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen based on current manga chapters.

Top 30 Strongest Characters in Jujutsu Kaisen
30) Tengen
Master Tengen has continued the foundation of Jujutsu Sorcery for centuries. They are an immortal and cursed human spirit. Since they continued to evolve, they don’t have a regular human appearance.
Tengen is a master of Barrier Techniques. Therefore, their cursed technique protects the locations of Jujutsu High as well as guards the Tombs of the Star Corridor. Additionally, they are an extremely intelligent and knowledgeable sorcerer. They are by far the oldest OG sorcerer and, of course, one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
29) Naoya Zenin
Naoya Zenin is the son of Naobito Zenin, the head of the Zenin clan, and a Special Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer. This makes him a cousin of Toji, Maki, and Mai, and the uncle of Megumi. He’s also the leader of The Hei, the strongest group within the Zenin family.
Naoya is a powerful jujutsu sorcerer and has inherited his father’s innate Cursed Technique, Projection Sorcery. After his death, he becomes a vengeful cursed spirit and even acquires his own Domain Expansion: Time Cell Moon Palace. However, no matter how strong he believes himself to be, he doesn’t compare to the likes of Maki and Toji.
28) Hiromi Higuruma
The Culling Game, orchestrated by Kenjaku, not only incarnates many ancient jujutsu sorcerers in modern times but also awakens the cursed energy within many non-curse users. One of these previously ordinary civilians is the defense attorney, Hiromi Higuruma.
Despite never knowing anything about cursed energy and the jujutsu world, Higuruma masters the whole thing in record time and even masters his own Domain Expansion: Deadly Sentencing.
27) Choso
Choso is a Cursed Womb: Death Painting, created by Kenjaku in the body of Noritoshi Kamo by impregnating a human woman with a cursed spirit. That makes Choso indirectly a son of Kenjaku. Choso is also the brother of Kechizu, Eso, and the other six Cursed Wombs along with Yuji Itadori.
Thanks to being created by the body of Noritoshi Kamo, Choso can use the Inherited Cursed Technique of the Kamo clan: Blood Manipulation. His signature technique is Piercing Blood which allows him to harden blood and use it as a sharp weapon.
26) Yuji Itadori
The protagonist of the series, Yuji Itadori is also one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. At the beginning of the story, he becomes the vessel for the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. That already makes him incredibly powerful, even if Sukuna hardly ever lends his powers to the boy.
Yuji’s true power is his own. He’s always been physically gifted and is one of the best physical combatants of the story. Along with that, he’s also one of the only three people to have performed Black Flash four times in a row. Yuji doesn’t have a Cursed Technique yet but he has a special technique called Divergent Fist which hits the target with his cursed energy a few milliseconds after the physical blow.
25) Megumi Fushiguro
Megumi Fushiguro is one of the first-year students at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Son of Toji Fushiguro and sold to the Zenin family who raised him, Megumi has been training under Gojo. He has incredible potential as even Sukuna acknowledges him and, therefore, jumps in to save him every time he puts his life in danger. This is because Megumi is a vital person in Sukuna’s secret future plans to hoard his body as his new vessel.
Megumi inherited the powerful Ten Shadows Technique of the Zenin family. According to legends, this technique is said to be on the same level as Limitless, and the Shikigami which makes it so is the horribly powerful Mahoraga. Megumi also has an incomplete Domain Expansion named Chimera Shadow Garden.
24) Kento Nanami
The fan-favorite character, Kento Nanami, is a Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer who was formerly a student of Tokyo Jujutsu High. After leaving the jujutsu world after his graduation, he came back later because he believed everything was meaningless. Ever since Gojo introduces him to Yuji, he becomes a mentor of sorts for the boy.
Nanami’s rank as a Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer is proof enough of his skills. For some time, he’s been the only person to have performed Black Flash four times in a row. He’s also a very capable physical combatant. His Cursed Technique, Ratio Technique, allows him to forcibly create a weak spot on his opponent’s body at a 7:3 ratio.
23) Aoi Todo
Up next in this ranking is Yuji’s “brother” and “best friend” Aoi Todo. Todo is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and their strongest student. He’s a Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer who’s trained under the Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer, Yuki Tsukumo herself.
Thanks to his muscular body and sharp instincts, Todo is incredible at physical combat and can cause anyone to run for their money. He’s also one of the few sorcerers who can use Black Flash. However, it’s his Cursed Technique, Boogie Woogie, that makes his powers so interesting. The seemingly simple yet amazingly useful technique allows Todo to exchange places of anything with anything around him with just a clap.
22) Dhruv Lakdawalla
The oldest participant of the Culling Game is Dhruv Lakdawalla, a jujutsu sorcerer who dominated the jujutsu world 2000 years ago and singlehandedly conquered Japan during the Civil War of Wa. Since then, he’s been incarnated twice, once at an unknown time and the latest by Kenjaku when the Culling Game started.
Needless to say, Dhruv is a very powerful jujutsu sorcerer who has a Shikigami-based Cursed Technique. But no matter how strong he is, he cannot stand a chance against Yuta. That’s why he sits here at number 22 on this ranking of the top 30 strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
21) Dagon
Dagon is one of the finger bearers, which means he is a special grade cursed spirit. He existed as a cursed womb until the Shibuya Incident. He manifested due to people’s hatred towards water-based disasters and hence has an octopus-like appearance. Additionally, he is aligned with Mahito’s faction.
Dagon is known to have the toughest skin amongst all cursed spirits and can also use Domain Expansion. We see him fully manifesting into his true form during his fight against the Jujutsu High Sorcerers. He managed to overpower Naobito, Nanami, and Maki. However, in the end, he succumbed to Toji Fushiguro’s powers.
20) Hanami
Along with Jogo, Mahito, and Dagon, Hanami is one of the unregistered Special Grade cursed spirits who ally themselves with Kenjaku. The cursed spirit was born from human’s fear of natural disasters on land and is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Hanami’s powers are nature-based where they can control the plant life around them. Their Cursed Technique, Disaster Plants, is quite versatile and can be used for both offense and defense. The cursed spirit can also use Domain Amplification and does so during their fight against Gojo in Shibuya.
Hanami also has a Domain Expansion named Ceremonial Sea of Light which makes sure the light beam ejected from their shoulder hits the target caught in the domain. But they don’t get the opportunity to use it properly in battle.
19) Mahito
Mahito is a special grade cursed spirit said to have the power of at least three fingers of Sukuna. Despite being a spirit, Mahito is the only cursed spirit closest to human appearance, speech, and emotions. He is working with Psuedo Geto/Kenjaku and manages his faction.
Mahito’s entire range of cursed techniques is lethal and morally questionable. One of his powerful cursed techniques is Idle Transfiguration, where he can reshape any soul, including his own. This allows him to heal and change his physical form.
During the Shibuya Incident, he has proven to be a tough opponent to some of the strongest sorcerers, such as Nanami, Itadori, Nobara, etc.
18) Jogo
Jogo is one of the finger bearers; therefore, he is a Special Grade cursed spirit that despises human beings. He is aligned with Mahito’s faction and is incredibly smart. Jogo can cast a powerful Domain called Disaster Flames along with multiple other techniques. His cursed techniques are fire-based, possessing an incredible volcanic level of destruction. Additionally, he is also incredibly fast and agile.
We see him in action many times in the manga, fighting against various strong sorcerers. The most notable event was his fight against Sukuna during Shibuya Incident. He was able to fight against Sukuna for quite a while until he eventually succumbed to his powers. Jogo has proved his powers enough times to be called one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
17) Kurourushi
Kurourushi is a Special Grade cursed spirit manifested due to the hatred of people towards cockroaches. It participated in the Culling Game and can even use Domain Expansion. Kurourushi went up against Yuta twice since it managed to survive the first time. It even overpowered Yuta at one point during their first fight.
Its innate technique is called Cockroach Manipulation, where it can summon an enormous amount of man-eating cockroaches. Additionally, Kurourushi uses a cursed tool called The Festering Life Sword, an enchanted sword that contains cursed insect eggs that infest his opponent. The eggs hatch inside their bodies and burst out, eating their way out of the flesh.
16) Fumihiko Takaba
Fumihiko Takaba was simply a struggling comedian living his life. Until Kenjaku marked him, and as a result, he unlocked his cursed energy and became a Jujutsu Sorcerer. Takaba participated in the Culling Game. He has a quirky and aloof personality and thinks that he is really funny.
Takaba’s cursed technique is called Comedian, which is very peculiar. His cursed technique allows him to conjure up any scenario that he thinks is unarguably funny and turn it into reality.
As a result, his technique is dangerous and could easily defeat any opponent. His technique is said to be effective even against Satoru Gojo. We see him in action when he protects Megumi during his fight against Reggie Star and Iori Hazenoki.
15) Takako Uro
Takako Uro is a sorcerer whom Kenjaku resurrects to participate in the Culling Game. She was the leader of an assassin group made up of various elite sorcerers. Therefore, she is an invincible fighter in terms of combat skills and has a very powerful cursed technique.
Uro’s innate technique is called Sky Manipulation, which allows her to manipulate space. She can turn any plane into a weapon and even distort it to her advantage. We see her in action at her peak when she puts up a great fight against Yuta during the Culling Game.
14) Ryu Ishigori
Ryu Ishigori is a resurrected sorcerer from the past to participate in the Culling Game, needless to say, by Kenjaku. He possesses an exceptional amount of cursed energy and more destructive force than all the Culling Game players.
His innate technique is called Cursed Energy Discharge, where he shoots destructive beams of cursed energy through his pompadour hairstyle. As he has the highest output of cursed energy than most sorcerers, each of his beams is highly destructive, covering a great distance.
The mere brute force of his beams is enough to defeat powerful sorcerers such as Dhruv Lakdawalla, Kurourushi, Uro, etc. Ryu is unarguably one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen so far.
13) Yorozu
When Kenjaku starts the Culling Game, Yorozu is one of the ancient curse users to be incarnated in the present time. Unfortunately, she is incarnated in the body of Tsumiki Fushiguro, Megumi’s step-sister. The curse user from the Heian period is also an obsessive fan of Sukuna, believing herself to be the only one capable of loving him and curing his loneliness.
Despite her manic tendencies, Yorozu is a very powerful curse user, though she cannot hold a candle to Sukuna. Her Cursed Technique, Construction, allows her to create anything she has knowledge about with her cursed energy, even if it is outside the law of physics, like True Sphere. Her Domain Expansion, Threefold Affliction, gives these dangerous True Spheres the sure-hit effect.
12) Hajime Kashimo
Hajime Kashimo is a 400-year-old sorcerer inhibiting some random body Kenjaku prepared for him. After defeating everyone in his time, the old jujutsu sorcerer became bored with life and wanted to fight someone strong. That was when Kenjaku offered him a chance to fight the mighty Sukuna. For centuries, he existed as a cursed object due to his binding vow with Kenjaku until he released him to participate in the Culling Game.
Kashimo’s powers are electricity-based, to such a point that even his cursed energy is electric. His Cursed Technique, Mythical Beast Amber, is a fearsome attack revealed during his fight against Sukuna. Kashimo is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen but since he loses to Hakari, he sits at number 12.
11) Kinji Hakari
Kinji is a suspended third-year student of Tokyo Jujutsu High. He simply refused to play by the higher up’s biased and unjust rules. Kinji has exceptional levels of cursed energy. His cursed energy has a rough texture like sandpaper that is very painful to his opponents. Since he relies on his raw strength, he is highly skilled in Taijutsu, meaning he has an exceptional level of hand-to-hand combat skills. His incredible potential is recognized by Gojo, as well.
Kinji’s Domain Expansion is called Idle Death Gamble, which suggests that the rules and theme of his domain would be sharply gamble-based. Currently, he’s fighting against Uraume and their ice-based powers. We shall wait for the latest chapter to be out to find out.
10) Uraume
Uraume is a 1000-year-old sorcerer, extremely loyal to Sukuna and his ideology. Before Sukuna takes over Megumi’s body, they were aligned with Kenjaku’s faction. Uraume’s innate technique is Ice Formation which allows them to generate and manipulate ice. They are also capable of using the Reverse Cursed Technique.
We see her in action during the Shibuya Incident, where they overpower most of the sorcerers present there. Therefore, their overall technique is difficult to overpower and deal with.
9) Suguru Geto
Suguru Geto was one of Gojo’s batchmates and his best friend. He was one of the four Special Grade sorcerers until he was plagued by his hatred towards non-sorcerers and wanted to eliminate them. Geto massacred hundreds of people and even used members of his cult to get closer to his goal. Kenjaku later possessed his body after he passed away.
Suguru’s innate technique is Cursed Spirit Manipulation which allows him to control and absorb cursed spirits and other curses. All of his cursed techniques are too brutal and life-threatening. Additionally, Suguru is also an exceptional fighter with incredible agility. He uses a cursed tool called Playful Cloud, which is quite difficult to master.
8) Yuki Tsukumo
Yuki Tsukumo is one of the four Special Grade sorcerers. She left Jujutsu High due to their short-sighted vision and outlook toward protecting humans from curses. Therefore, Yuki is an independent sorcerer who is always on the move to achieve the noble goal of eliminating the root causes of curses.
As one of the Special Grade sorcerers, she’s very powerful. She has a Shikigami named Garuda which is directly connected to her innate technique. Her Cursed Technique, Star Rage, allows her to add virtual mass to herself and Garuda. Yuki is also proficient in Reverse Cursed Technique and Domain Amplification. She also has a domain but she doesn’t get to use it in the story.
7) Hana Kurusu
Hana Kurusu becomes one of the participants of the Culling Game after an ancient jujutsu sorcerer is incarnated in her body. But unlike other incarnations, Kurusu doesn’t lose complete control of her body. Rather, she and the ancient sorcerer, Angel, form a symbiotic partnership.
Angel’s Cursed Technique is the nullification of other techniques, formally named Technique Extinguishment. Her strongest technique, Jacob’s Ladder is one of the strongest techniques shown in the story and is responsible for the release of Gojo from the Prison Realm.
Kurusu and Angel’s tag team is undoubtedly one of the strongest powers of Jujutsu Kaisen, possibly even surpassing Maki and Yuta. But Kurusu hardly ever uses their power for offensive purposes and hasn’t demonstrated a lot. That’s why she is at number 7.
6) Maki Zenin
Despite being born into one of the three noble families of the jujutsu world, Maki Zenin was born with cursed energy so little that she couldn’t even see cursed spirits. After suffering through her life as a failure in the Zenin family, Maki vowed to become a strong jujutsu sorcerer and the head of the family.
Maki’s lack of cursed energy is compensated with superhuman physical prowess that allows her to counter and even overwhelm powerful jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits. She used to use cursed tools to fight and exorcize curses, but when her twin sister Mai dies, she takes all of Maki’s cursed energy with her, leaving her with zero cursed energy.
When Maki finally loses all of her cursed energy, her true potential is unlocked. Thanks to the Heavenly Restriction, she achieves her peak and becomes as strong as Toji Fushiguro. This makes Maki one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
5) Toji Fushiguro
Toji Fushiguro belonged to the Zenin family but left the family due to their dirty politics. After marrying his wife, he took her surname to get rid of anything related to the Zenin family. One thing that is absolutely clear is that Toji is the strongest non-curse user in Jujutsu Kaisen. He is an assassin known as the Sorcerer Killer who’d assassinate anybody as long as the money is appropriate.
Toji single-handedly overpowered Gojo and Geto during Gojo’s Past Arc. Despite not using cursed energy, he makes up for it with his absolute physical strength and skills. He is a master weaponist and remains undefeated. Hence, there’s no doubt about him being one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
4) Kenjaku
Kenjaku is one of the two main antagonists of the series. Having been living for centuries, he has possessed some notable sorcerers, such as Noritoshi Kamo. As Noritoshi, he experimented through countless inhumane ways to fulfill his goal of “evolving” humans to their full potential. As a result, he created Cursed Womb: Death Paintings, for example.
Hence, he was called the evilest sorcerer throughout history. Currently, he possesses the body of Suguru Geto and has succeeded in all his plans so far. Kenjaku’s cursed technique allows him to transplant his brain into anybody, dead or alive. While he possesses a body, he can use their cursed energy and cursed techniques.
Therefore, we see him going undetected by Gojo’s Six Eyes. Kenjaku being the mastermind behind everything and a successful one at that is unarguably one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.
3) Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu is one of the protagonists of the series. Together with Rika, a Special Grade cursed spirit, Yuta is a Special Grade jujutsu sorcerer. Deemed to be Gojo’s successor due to his exceptional potential, he is a second-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Yuta is easily one of the OP characters of the series, as he remains undefeated so far.
Yuta can mimic/use any cursed technique before him with Rika’s help. Additionally, he is also an exceptional fighter mastering various cursed tools and possessing incredible combat skills. Yuta and Rika single-handedly defeated the strongest players in the Sendai Colony. Rika being a special cursed spirit, has an insane amount of cursed energy and can fight independently alongside Yuta. They both are exceptionally strong characters in the series.
2) Satoru Gojo
Satoru Gojo is a Special Grade sorcerer and a teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High, a true one in all aspects. He nurtures and protects his students from getting harmed by the higher up’s politics.
He hailed from the Gojo family and became the only person in 400 years to inherit both, Six Eyes and Limitless. Gojo casts powerful and different types of domains with the help of his innate technique, Limitless.
Since he can manipulate and control space and time, he is untouchable quite literally. His Hollow Technique: Purple is by far the strongest technique we have seen in the series so far. His domain, Unlimited Void, is also the strongest domain of the series apart from Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine.
Apart from his invincible cursed techniques, he is also an exceptional fighter with insane speed, agility, and raw strength. Additionally, he can also use Reverse Cursed Technique and Black Flash. Since he is simply undefeatable, Gojo is the second strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen, overpowered by only one.
1) Ryomen Sukuna
Sukuna is the ultimate antagonist of the series. He is a 1000-year-old sorcerer crowned as the “King of Curses.” He successfully incarnated into Itadori’s body when he ate one of his cursed fingers.
He was as powerful as to be deemed an Imaginary Demon during his time since he had four hands and eyes. It took an army of sorcerers to defeat him. However, since his curse was so powerful, his 20 indestructible fingers were sealed using powerful sorcery. Despite that, since each of his fingers is a special grade cursed object, they attract each other and weaken the seal over time. As a result, they were distributed over several locations.
Now, Sukuna specializes in Binding Vows and casts an inescapable Domain, Malevolent Shrine. Once inside his domain, it is impossible to escape it without establishing a binding vow as per his demands. Sukuna has eliminated every opponent he has come across so far in the series without even breaking a sweat. Also, Malevolent Shrine remains the most powerful domain in the series.
Additionally, he also uses extremely fast and lethal attacks such as Dismantle and Cleave. He is capable of using the Reverse Cursed Technique as well as hand-to-hand combat skills exceptionally well. Recently, he used an unknown fire-bases cursed technique.
Therefore, Sukuna is by far the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
